Things are growing at the Engkraf Farm

Logan is growing... The chickens are growing... No eggs yet, but we're hoping they'll start laying soon and earning their keep.

The garden is growing like crazy! This picture is from last week and everything is already bigger. We have sunflowers and tomatoes (which aren't in the picture), snow peas, sugar snap peas, green beans, corn, peppers, white onions, yellow onions, russet potatoes, yukon gold potatoes, garlic, strawberries and pumpkins. We've already harvested 7 beautiful strawberries, but we ate them before I took a picture. Life is good on the farm!

A Plant I Haven't Killed!

My lovely sister got me the most beautiful, unique flowers for Mother's Day. They have proven themselves to be very hardy and have even (gasp!) flourished under my care. I don't know what they are, but they are gorgeous!

Serenity

Just when I think I can't handle another tantrum, I get a scene like this. He is still the most beautiful creation I've ever seen!

Mommy and Me Gymnastics: A good time was had by one

In an effort to be the perfect mommy, I signed us up for Mommy and Me Gymnastics through Longview Parks and Rec. I was picturing some idyllic mommy/son time, some somersaults, some laughs--what I failed to realize was that this is Logan we're talking about! The kid has more energy than a Jack Russell Terrier on a steady diet of Red Bull and cocaine. The first thing he did was run through the building, find the open bathroom door and put both hands in the toilet. He has mischief GPS, I swear. So once hands were clean, he tried to rip the lockers off the walls, opened the cleaning supply cuboard and hid under a table where I couldn't reach him. I'm getting used to the looks of bemused pity that other parents give me. I'm making Brian go with me next Saturday, if we tag-team we might be able to keep up with him. For someone so adorable, he sure wreaks a lot of havoc!

Growing Up

Here's Logan cruising around in his Jeep. Check out the vanity plate! He's looking more and more like Brian, I love it! Baby's first tattoo....He looks like a little sailor. His cousin put it on about 2 weeks ago and that thing is STILL there. I'm wondering if the daycare thinks it's permanent....

Keeping Busy

Logan and Mommy Here's the Tiramisu that I whipped up this afternoon to go with my (homemade) 3 -Cheese Roasted Garlic Ravioli that I made for lunch. This is what happens when I get a day off! It's ok to hate me a little.

Brian left for Montana on Friday morning, leaving me alone to tend to the Engkraf Farm. He won't be home until Sunday the 24th. This is the longest we've been apart since 2001!! Since he's been gone I've managed to accidentally kill the ducks. I let them play outside and they ran (waddled off) and haven't been seen since. Well, one has been seen, but he wasn't alive. :( I'm a duck-killer. I'm expecting PPS (Poultry Protective Services) to come to my door and demand the chickens any day now. On the plus side, I've kept all 4 chickens alive and have been faithfully watering the garden. I'm even thinking about painting the bathroom---we'll see how that goes...

Can We Build It? Yes We Can!

If you know anything about me, then you will probably know how I don't follow directions well and am generally un-handy. So, I needed a stool for Logan so he can get up to the sink to brush his teeth. I found the PERFECT Thomas the train stool and it was even 75% off at Fred Meyer---but it had to be put together. I couldn't wait for Brian to do it tomorrow, so I figured it was about time I put something together on my own. One hour, two extra pieces and only a few swear words later---I did it!! I'm sure it would not be a significant accomplishment to most people, but to directions-challenged me, it was a it was like solving a Rubik's cube. Go me!
