Grant is here!

Even though we are still mourning the loss of our beloved Molly, a canine opportunity arose that we couldn't pass up. Grant (I know, dumb name) was in training at the Guide Dogs for the Blind Institute in Oregon and didn't quite make the grade (or he "needed a career change" as they put it). He's a wonderful and intelligent dog, but he has a fear of escalators and is a little too happy to be a working guide dog. Their requirements are incredibly stringent and not all dogs make it through. Grant seems happy to be a family dog now and has really taken to Logan. He's about a year old and still has a LOT of puppy in him (lots of wiggles!). We weren't ready for a dog, but when a well-trained, pure-bred, free dog comes along, you don't say no.

Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

Logan got a really cool bathtub art set for his birthday. He now wants to take about 3 baths a day. This is his latest masterpiece from last night. It looks like a Jackson Pollock to me.

And on to ducks

Does it get any cuter than this? After having such a blast with the baby chicks, I decided that I really needed 2 ducks. Not that anyone really needs 2 ducks, but they're just so cute! In a few weeks they can live outside with the chickens. According to the feed store guy, the ducks will keep slugs out of our garden and will eat dandylions and other weeds. We have a little creek behind our house, so they can hang out there too. Yeah, I know, we're totally weird.

Choo Choo...look who's 2!

What a beautiful day for a party! Logan's train themed party was such a blast. We played "Pin the Whistle on Thomas" and had a cool pinata for the kids. Logan got some awesome gifts and had a great time with his family.

He partied so hard, he fell asleep sitting up!

The Great Chicken Experiment

I'm not sure how it happened, but Brian and I decided that it would be fun to raise chickens for eggs. I don't like the chemicals in store-bought eggs, so I thought it would be a great idea to just raise our own! Logan loves looking at the baby chicks. They were SO cute when we got them! We have Ming-Ming, Ming-Ming 2 (if you've seen WonderPets, you'll get the name), Star, Moesha, Omelette and McMuffin. They lived in a Rubbermaid container in our bathroom for about three weeks. Now they are in their awkward teenager phase and not nearly as cute. They reside in a nice big pen in the garage. About two more weeks and then they can be outside in their coop that Brian will hopefully be building for them (SOON!). They'll have a caged yard to peck at and a nice place to roost and produce lots of eggs for us. I'll be glad to get them out of the garage, they are starting to smell fowl (ha ha, get it?)

Happy now?

After much brow beating from co-workers, I've brought back Engkraf and a Half. No promises on keeping it updated, but I will do my utmost. Utmost is a stupid word. Say it out loud a bunch of times. See?
